Nominations
Friendly competition with a little trash talking between Relay teams can be a fun way to boost donations collected, and so I have encouraged this by creating incentives in the form of recognition to the teams who raise large amounts of money. Fundraising is the primary goal of the Relay For Life, and competition is a good thing.
However, sometimes competition can come at the expense of others who are working extremely hard at promoting Relay and spreading awareness, or other activities that contribute a great deal to the success of the Relay For Life without directly raising a ton of money. These people deserve to be recognized too, for their selfless dedication to the fight against cancer without regard for competition.
So between now and the day of the Relay, I will be accepting nominations for the “Spirit of Relay” award. In order to nominate someone for this award, please send a notecard to me, Jade Lily, in Second Life. Name the notecard “Spirit of Relay Nominee: Jade Lily” (replacing Jade Lily with the correct name). Inside the body of the notecard, provide an explanation of what your nominee has done to deserve this award. “Spirit of Relay” award nominees should be those who consistently give of their time and effort to bring the fight to Cancer’s doorstep.
